This is a true to life, dramatic anime. It took me writing the first two paragraphs of this review, watching the show again, and then rewriting this review for my opinions to really solidify. So they’re basically licking each other’s wounds since they want.
Based on a 2012 manga and produced by studio lerche, scum’s wish is a disturbing but empathetic drama about how teenagers use others and are used, all in the service of keeping afloat.

A certain arc in scum's wish shares similarities with the plot of citrus, in that it revolves around girl a who is (practically) sexually assaulted by girl b, which leads to the start of a lesbian relationship. Scum’s wish chapters feel short, and often hone in on one or two characters at a time only to shift to two completely different characters the following chapter.
