It looks like a similar cartoon to the secret life of pets, however, it was quite dark for children. The film only hits its stride when judy dench and ian mckellan appear on screen at the halfway mark. Once the idea of making cats as an animated feature was rejected, there presumably were multiple tests to figure out a digital.
It’s a basic, borderline competent, animated film that’s meant for kids but doesn’t understand that you can’t show small children images of cats being murdered over and over again.
It’s kind of like the animated movie sing from a few years back except instead of money the prize is. The entire first half of the movie is almost unwatchable.i spent the first 40 minutes or so squirming like i was attending a bad high school musical, checking my watch every ten minutes. With james corden, judi dench, jason derulo, idris elba. If you replace the cats and racoons and other animals with humans, with the exact plot, exact script (dialogues), children should not be allowed to watch this movie.
